Xanadu, Inc.
A Non Profit 501(c)(3) Organization
Xanadu, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit charitable organization, incorporated in the State of New Mexico.  We received our tax exempt status determination letter dated August 3, 2008.

The mission of Xanadu, Inc. is to provide and maintain a safe haven, shelter and socialization for unwanted canine animals, on a 12.5 acre piece of land in Northern New Mexico. Part of the Xanadu philosophy is not only to help the animals, but also to provide healing opportunities for humans through contact and work with the animals.

Currently, there are 15 dogs that are being sheltered at Kurukulla. The care and shelter of the animals is maintained on a daily basis, by animal care helpers. Much of the work is voluntary, and volunteer donations of time, cash or in-kind goods and services are always welcome.

The shelter is located off of Hwy 14, about 22 miles from downtown Santa Fe, New Mexico. The physical address is 26 Southfork Extension. For directions from Santa Fe City limits to Southfork extension, click this link.

Xanadu seeks to raise funds and solicit charitable contributions to help pay for operational costs of maintaining and expanding Kurukulla. Contributions sought include cash donations and donations of in-kind goods and services, food, outdoor supplies and equipment, and volunteer help.
Our initial board of directors is composed of the following individuals:
  • Paul M. Stephaich, President

William W. McKinstry, Secretary Treasurer

Doreen McCurley, Board member

Peggy S. Guiness, Board member

Pauline M. Stephaich, Board member.

Xanadu is developing an advisory committee, to be composed of professional individuals who can provide volunteer time and/or services. The advisory committee is to include a nonprofit organization manager, an accountant, a veterinarian, an animal trainer, a photographer and folks from similar professions.  One individual on the advisory committee is Ana Gallegos y Reinhart, executive director of the Santa Fe Teen Arts Center, who acted as temporary fiscal agent  during the initial startup phase of Xanadu. Ms. Gallegos y Reinhart is an experienced nonprofit executive and an accomplished fundraiser.
